This project was set on a uniquely contoured urban lot where the land rose upward directly from large picture windows at the rear of the home. The client envisioned a natural and eclectic garden anchored by a swimming pool that would feel as though it had always belonged to the landscape. The resulting plunge pool features natural granite boulders and organically shaped coping stones, evoking the character of a secluded grotto.
Materials include random granite flagstone, square-cut granite steps, and smooth granite cobblestones, creating a rich and cohesive palette. Enclosed by two brick walls, the main house, and a laneway house, the space forms a private and verdant retreat in the heart of the city.
