The location of the back door and the desire to preserve the existing Japanese Maple lead us to lay out the dining and lounging patios on a a 45 degree angle. the two areas are anchored by a by a dramatic focal point; a water feature that flows from a deeply patinaed copper bowl into a basin below. A hovering plate steel step brings you down to the lower patio. The square-cut granite flagstone and aluminum H-beam arbour intensify to the angular character of the space.
