Located in Toronto’s West End, this backyard is framed by a mature canopy of red and white oak trees that provide a beautiful natural backdrop. A covered outdoor dining and lounge area with a retractable bug screen opens onto a sunken patio connected by walkways and stepping stones constructed from Upper Algonquin limestone. An existing shed/cabana at the rear of the property was integrated into the new design, and screened with European beech hedging and perennial planting. A sunken stone fire pit terrace and a discreetly positioned hot tub are enclosed by dense planting for privacy. White powder-coated architectural screens help define and organize the spaces while complementing the contemporary design language of the landscape.
