Located in Midtown Toronto on a very deep, narrow lot, this backyard was designed as a layered journey through distinct outdoor rooms. The space unfolds in three primary zones. Closest to the house is an upper lounge and dining patio featuring a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and a powder-coated stainless steel pergola that provides structure and architectural definition.
At the centre of the property sits the swimming pool, acting as a visual and spatial anchor between the home and the more secluded rear garden. At the back of the lot, nestled within dense, carefully curated tree plantings, we designed a custom yoga studio with an integrated storage shed. These two structures frame a gravel patio with a gas fire pit, creating an intimate woodland gathering space. As you move from the house toward the rear of the property, the experience becomes increasingly immersive.
The transition from open patio to lush planting gives the sense of being transported into the woods—an unexpected forest retreat in the heart of the city.
