Outside the Box

Just below one of Toronto’s most recognized architectural icons sits a little outdoor space called Butterfield Park. This Little park is frequented by students and faculty of OCAD who were interested in a more welcoming place to hang out between classes. These raised corten steel planters were cut into the sidewalk and planted with London plane trees and an understory of fragrant nepeta (catmint). They help to break up the wide concrete sidewalk and create verdant barrier from the traffic on McCaul Street.
